Britney confirms tour for 2009

Britney Spears stopped by New York radio station Z100 Monday morning (September 29) to talk about her new single, "Womanizer," which made its debut on the station Friday, and surprised listeners by saying she's planning to tour next year.

"['Womanizer' is] basically saying, 'We know what you're up to.' It's about guys cheating on girls," she said. "It's a girl anthem. That's why I like it. So hopefully the fans will see it that way too!"

She also said she's completed work on her forthcoming LP, Circus (which is slated for release on her 27th birthday, December 2), on which the single appears. "Well, actually ... I cut Circus like two weeks ago. I've been working on this album for, like, six months now."

Spears said was stunned when she won three Moonmen earlier this month at the VMAs, in part because she feels she's done better videos. "It's a cool video, but I think by far I've done videos that are way better, so I was really shocked that it got the award," she said.

"It was just inspiring, though," she continued, "because now, going forward with the videos that I'm doing now, I can really go there and do something crazy and see what happens."

Surprisingly, the singer also said that she plans to tour in 2009. "Oh, definitely next year," she said when asked about touring possibilities. "Probably around the world." Last year, Spears, under the name M+M's, did a small club tour that found her lip-synching and wearing a black wig during a brief set.

Last week, Spears was seen around Los Angeles filming the video for "Womanizer." In the clip, Britney sports a vampy look, clad in a short black wig and red lipstick, and playing a waitress. The clip was directed by Joseph Khan, who previously helmed her clips for "Stronger" and "Toxic." Sources told UsMagazine.com that the video features "erotic" choreography.

Britney Had A Business Meeting Yesterday

Last time Britney Spears was in New York — almost exactly one year ago — she finished off a wild night in a strip club by putting on one of the dancers' thongs.

But since she flew in from LAX last night, her latest trip to the Big Apple has been a very different affair. Instead of heading to the clubs to catch up with her scantily clad buddies, Brit checked straight into her swank downtown hotel to get ready for the busy day of high-level business meetings (and a little shopping!) ahead.

The newly fit and focussed singer started today by paying a flying visit to the Z100 radio station to talk about her new album Circus, before zipping uptown to the Sony headquarters wheres she was scheduled to meet with Barry Weiss, the president of her record label.

But after an hour-long sit down with the boss, Britney relaxed by spending an hour or so (and, it seems, a few hundred dollars) in super-luxe department store, Barneys.

"When she came out of the elevator, her assistant was already carrying an armful of clothes," said a fellow shopper in the shoe department. "I'd say she's definitely a fan of this place!" Britney took a good long look at a pair of Christian Louboutin high heels ($575) and looked like she spent a long time weighing up whether she was going to buy a pair of knee-high black leather Fendi boots ($920), but decided against them in the end.

"She seemed pretty relaxed, twirling her hair around her fingers as she wandered around, checking out all the cute shoes. She looked like she was in her element!" Brit finished up her spree in the cosmetics section, where she tried out a few different shades of lipstick before picking out just the right red, a Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited #190 ($23), plus their Nobara cream foundation #554 ($27).

Then she hopped back in her car and headed right back to her hotel -- without a single second-hand thong in sight. What a difference a year makes!

Britney: I know, right!

JJ: And I heard that you weren't too crazy about the "Piece of Me" video?
Britney: I mean, it's a cool video, but I think by far I've done videos that are way better so I was really shocked that it got the award, you know?
JJ: So were you glad, or like, 'That's cool, but I didn't some other cool stuff!'
Britney (laughs): Yeah, but it was just inspiring though, 'cause now, you know, going forward with the videos that I'm doing now I can really go there and do something crazy and see what happens.
JJ: So I have to ask, are we going to see a tour?
Britney: Oh definitely next year, definitely.
JJ: So is that what's been up with all the dancing on the side?
Britney: Oh, yeah definitely.

JJ: Cool! So will it be a world tour? Or just the US?
Britney: Umm.. Probably all around the world.
JJ: Excellent! Anything else you want to say to your fans here in New York City?
Britney: I miss it here so much! I love it so much. It makes me... it's kind of like, bittersweet coming here 'cause I used to live here for two years! And when I come here, it's like, 'Man, I wish I had my apartment here still and stuff like that.' But I love it-it's the energy-it's crazy.
JJ: What's the one thing you miss about it here?
Britney (laughs): Um, the pizza!
JJ: So do you have one slice, or like, a whole pizza and then the treadmill?
Britney: Oh I eat! I eat what I want, I have to yes-definitely.

JJ: Advice for all the ladies-when you go on vacation, eat what you want and then go on the treadmill!

A rep from Jive Records has revealed song-writer / producer Max Martin's latest track he worked on for Britney's upcoming album "Circus" may be the best song he's ever done in his career.

Max Martin is responsible for crafting some of Britney's biggest pop songs, including "Baby One More Time," "Crazy," "Oops!... I Did It Again," "Lucky," "Stronger," "Overprotected" and "I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman."

"Circus," Britney's 6th studio album, is scheduled for a December 2nd release.

Newsday review of WOMANIZER

The Britney Spears comeback story now has a soundtrack.

Her new single “Womanizer,” which made its debut this morning on Z100 (either three days early or four days late depending on whose timetable you believe), is the first musical sign that she may actually be
putting her troubled past behind her.

“Womanizer,” from the Atlanta production team The Outsyders, is an upbeat dance number that crosses her hit “Toxic” with some of the Euro-influenced dance sound from last year’s “Blackout” and adds some pointed lyrics.
“You say I’m crazy? I got your ‘crazy,’” sings Spears. “You’re nothing but a womanizer.”

It’s catchy, but more noteworthy is that it involves
some tongue-twisting lyrics and doesn’t heavily process Spears’ vocals, meaning that she had to be engaged in the recording process – something that was not evident for “Blackout.”

At this point, can’t we all just admit “Blackout” wasn’t very good? (I know many of you disagreed at the time, but do you still feel that way?) Despite some really catchy songs, it just sounded sad, like Spears vocals were assembled by robots because she couldn’t string two sentences together. “Blackout” hasn’t even broken the 900,000 sales mark yet, despite its massive, car-crash-gawking opening sales week of nearly 300,000 last November.

“Womanizer” is a sign that Spears’ sixth album “Circus,” due out Dec. 2, will fare far better.

MTV today revealed finalists in seven of the eleven categories, including album of the year and act of 2008.Coldplay, Duffy and Britney Spears go head to head in the former category, while Coldplay, Britney, Amy Winehouse, Leona Lewis and Rihanna will compete for the latter.

The remaining performing artists at the awards, which will be broadcast live from the Liverpool Echo Arena in Liverpool on Thursday November 6, will be announced in the next few weeks.Between September 29 and November 2, MTV viewers will be able to vote at www.mtvema.com to decide who will win in each category.

“The range of this year’s finalists really does demonstrate the breadth of taste of the MTV audience,” says MTV Europe Music Awards executive producer Richard Godfrey. “Alongside such superstars as Beyoncé, Pink and Britney, MTV viewers have recognised the massive talent of bands such as The Cure, Greenday and the Foo Fighters as well as new artists Katy Perry, Duffy and Jonas Brothers.”

Britney Spears' New Single Debuts

Britney Spears' new single "Womanizer" debuted on NYC's Z100-FM Friday morning.
In the song, Spears sings, "Boy don't try to front / I know just what gets you off."

The song will make its television debut during MTV's The Hills on Monday, Sept. 29. Spears shot a steamy music video for the song at Takami Sushi & Robata Restaurant and Elevate Lounge in L.A. Wednesday.One witness tells Usmagazine.com it features plenty of "erotic" choreography.

In one scene, Spears (who wears tight, black leather pants and fake tattoos on her arms in the video) lies on a kitchen counter and later straddles and makes out with a man dressed in business suit.The scene continues with Spears sucking on cherries or dangling them around her mouth, all while straddling and crawling all over the man, the witness says.

"She seems to be all business," the witness told Us. "She'd just do one thing after another and then on to the next."

"Womanizer" is the first single from her new album, Circus, which will drop on December 2, coinciding with her 27th birthday.

"She's working with a team of top-notch producers and songwriters and we're very excited about what she’s accomplished so far," her manager Larry Rudolph said in July.

Britney's "Womanizer" Debuts

Fans were no doubt disappointed when Britney Spears' highly-anticpated single "Womanizer," produced by the Outsyders, was pushed back from its original Sept. 22 release date. But the wait is over – NYC radio station Z100 played the song this morning for its official debut.

A short, poor quality clip of the song from Britney's new album Circus had been leaked and played by a Nashville radio station last week before being taken down. According to MTV.com, Jive Records says the 37-second clip was likely made by recording a phone call, during which a radio rep played the song for the station.

So far the song isn't available for digital download, but reports are circulating that fans will be able to purchase "Womanizer" on Monday.

Britney was spotted earlier this week after leaving the video shoot for the new song with a sexy, short black bobbed wig and bright red lipstick. The music video is being directed by Joseph Khan, who also made the videos for "Stronger" and "Toxic."

Billboard review of Womanizer

"Womanizer," the first single from Britney Spears' upcoming album "Circus," hit U.S. radio outlets this morning. The track, produced by up-and-coming Atlanta team the Outsyders, has a thick, synthy sound that should lend itself to remixes and club play.

Lyrically, "Womanizer" finds Spears rebuffing the advances of man with the "swagger of champions." "Must mistake me as a sucker / To think that I would be a victim not another / Say it, play it how you wanna / But no way I'm ever gonna fall for you," she sings.

Among the other contributors on "Circus" are Dr. Luke, who wrote and produced the title cut, Danja, Guy Sigsworth, Max Martin and Bloodshy & Avant. The album's release on Dec. 2 coincides with Spears' 27th birthday.

While it's definitely an improvement over the hot-pink one she always used to wear, seeing Britney Spears out Wednesday night in L.A. sporting a short, black wig nevertheless had us initially concerned.

After all, the pop star donning outlandish fake hair simply conjures up memories of a much darker time in our girl's life.

But upon further investigation—and with no Adnan Ghalib in sight—we found out that the pop star had simply been working on the video for her upcoming new single, "Womanizer," in which she apparently wears the phony tresses.

See? Nothing to worry about.

Unless, of course, she's singing in a British accent.

Britney Spears is getting back to work in a big way. On Wednesday, the pop star – incognito in a black wig and red lipstick – filmed the video for her upcoming single, "Womanizer," and will continue shooting Thursday, sources tell PEOPLE.

Filming took place Wednesday at Elevate Lounge, a club located within Takami Sushi & Robata restaurant on the 21st floor of an office building in downtown L.A., says a source. In the video, directed by Joseph Kahn (who worked with Spears on "Toxic" and "Stronger"), she plays a waitress.

Everybody calm down: we've heard the Britney single in full and it is literally quite good

Without wishing to stir up any of that boring Christina vs Britney nonsense, Britney's new single 'Womanizer' is exactly what Christina is trying - and failing - to do with her own new single. We heard the track in full earlier today and while we enjoyed (what we could hear of) the clip that leaked on Monday hearing the track in full - and at full volume - throws the whole thing into a brand new realm of amazingness. Stylistically it shares a lot in common with Rachel Stevens' 'Some Girls' but in Britney terms it's a brilliantly executed mashup of 'Toxic' with the last album's more insane moments like 'Ooh Ooh Baby'. Most important thing: it doesn't fade at the end - the beat drops out while Britney trills the main "YOU'RE A WOMANIZER OH WOMANIZER OH YOU'RE A WOMANIZER BABY" hook. This track lays a really strong foundation for the fully-realised comeback that didn't quite happen last time and it's hard not to think of it as a late contender for single of the year. Like we said above, it's literally quite good.

Brit's X-tra Performance!

Britney Spears going from A-list to X-list! "X-Factor" judge Simon Cowell confirmed to "Extra" that Brit will be performing on the hit Brit music show.

"Yes, I think Britney Spears is going to perform on 'The X Factor,'" Simon said. When asked how Cowell managed to snag Spears, he replied, "We didn't GET her. She's got a record coming out. We have the number one show in England. It's the best show for her to perform on. We're absolutely thrilled to have her."

The "American Idol" judge also his personal opinion about the "Gimme More" singer. "I've always said this about Britney -- that she's a hugely talented person. Everyone wants to work with her because she's a star. She's the number one booking in the world at the moment for a show... The fact that she goes a bit crazy occasionally makes her more interesting. And now she has her career back on track -- fantastic. I'm thrilled."

The snarky judge also admitted that Britney's past erratic behavior didn't deter him from booking her. "If she wants to shave her head before she comes on the show, she's welcome to," said Simon. "I don't care."

Britney Goes to Market to Sell Her House

The 26-year-old pop star has put her estate in the gated Beverly Hills community, the same residence over which helicopters circled to better chronicle her meltdown in January, on the market for $7.9 million, E! News confirmed Tuesday.

Spears bought the house in December 2007 for about $7 million. She had quietly been shopping the property since June but there were no takers, according to a source, prompting her decision to publicly list the home with Sotheby's International Realty.
The Mediterranean-style mansion measures 7,500 square feet, comprising six bedrooms and six-and-a-half bathrooms, as well as a library, media room and maid’s quarters. A second-floor balcony overlooks an open living room and kitchen with an adjacent screening room. There are also a pool and hot tub in the backyard, according to the Los Angeles Times' Hot Property blog, which first reported the real estate shakeup.

While Spears may have sold millions of records, she hasn't been a hit with some of her neighbors, namely the ones who've complained about the constant paparazzi presence and, in less happy times, the ambulances and cop cars that made a visit or two to the Summit earlier this year.Neighbor Ed Mc McMahon, for one, has publicly cited Spears as one of the reasons why in the past two years he has not received a single offer on his 7,000-square-foot home that recently sold for more than $3 million less than its original asking price.

Calls to Calabasas realtor Tomer Fridman of Ewing & Associates, Sotheby's International Realty, for comment were not immediately returned.

Well, former grunt worker, anyway—the top entry on his blog is now a terse message that insinuates that Adam's been fired: "For those stopping by to catch up on all the celebrity gossip and the Intern Adam vs. Britney Spears drama, don't expect any posts from IA. He is not here. We are sorry to inform you he is not on the air with Woody & Jim In The Morning. No details will be given at this time, however we are sure you can fish around the internet gossip blogs to figure stuff out." Britney Spears' Mother Confirms Tour Plans and Brit furious over "Womanizer" being leaked

Britney Spears' mother Lynne has confirmed her daughter plans to hit the road for a world tour.

Spears hasn't played a full string of live dates since her Onyx Hotel world tour in 2004.

But the Toxic hitmaker was recently rumoured to be planning a major international trek next year (09) to coincide with the release of her new album, Circus, in December (08).

The clubs won't be spinning

The clubs won't be spinning Britney Spears' new single this weekend. According to label sources, the official premiere of "Womanizer," Spears' first single off of her upcoming album Circus, has been pushed back due to an undisclosed issue with "the mix"—i.e., not Britney's vocals, per se, but rather how all facets of the track sound together.

Originally set to drop this morning, the masterminds at Jive Records' Zomba Label Group are holding the song for at least another week, meaning radio stations won't be spinning the tune until Sept. 29 at the earliest. "The mix was not finalized," a source told E! News.

Meanwhile, "Womanizer" isn't a complete mystery to fans anxious for Brit to give 'em more. A fuzzy 40-second clip hit the Internet last week after an intern at a Nashville radio station recorded the tune while previewing it over the phone and posted the snippet on the station's website.

Which promptly removed it at Zomba's behest. Spears' sixth studio album, Circus, is being prepped for a Dec. 2 debut to coincide with the comebacking pop star's 27th birthday. Symbolic, no?

Gossip blogs and celebrity Web sites lit up Friday (September 19) when a 37-second, static-filled snippet of the first single from Britney Spears' upcoming album, Circus, was briefly posted on a radio station's Web site before being removed.

The snippet of disco-inflected track, called "Womanizer," was briefly posted on the Web site of Nashville radio station 107.5-FM The River before being taken down, although at press time the clip could still be found elsewhere online.

Based on the brief snippet, the Outsyders-produced song is a bouncy dance track with a sing-song chorus that frequently repeats the title; Britney coos about a possible lover who has a reputation of being a womanizer.

According to Britney's label, the station obtained the snippet by recording a phone call in which a radio rep played a rough mix of the song for people at the station — which seems likely, judging by the horrendous sound quality of the clip. At the label's request, the station removed the clip from its Web site.

Fans won't have to wait long for the song's official release, which takes place on Monday. The album follows on December 2, Britney's birthday.

Along with the Outsyders, collaborators on the album include Keri Hilson, Sean Garrett, Rodney Jerkins, Lil Jon, Nate "Danjahandz" Hills (who helmed "Gimme More") and Dr. Luke (who wrote and produced the album's title track), Guy Sigsworth, Bloodshy & Avant (who produced past hits "Toxic" and the big VMA winner "Piece of Me") and Max Martin (who wrote "... Driving Without A License Trial Extended Again

Seriously? SERIOUSLY? Britney's driving without a valid California license trial has been moved up to October according to TMZ.

"Last year Britney was cited because her license was from Louisiana, not California. The case has been to court more than Gloria Allred, but the prosecutor and defense lawyer couldn't settle.

This morning the trial date was set for October 15, but lawyers are meeting a week earlier on the 8th to discuss the case. Sources say during the meeting in chambers, the judge said he doesn't want to be criticized for giving Britney Spears special treatment."

HER RECOVERY is near completion, so now we can all reap the benefits of BRITNEY SPEARS looking fit again. The pop princess has been putting in the hours at the gym and dance studio over the past few months and her hard work is clearly paying off.

Here she is leaving the Mondrian Hotel in LA remising the Britney of old, looking in cracking shape - especially her toned legs. It's a far cry from the dishevelled, underwear-less appearance we got so used to seeing not so long ago.

But memories of her breakdown were rekindled yesterday when it is was confirmed she will have to appear in court next month to face a driving charge. The singer is accused of not having a valid California driver's licence when she bumped into another vehicle in an LA car park in August last year.

However her lawyer, MICHAEL FLANAGAN, says Britney was driving with a Louisiana licence that was valid because she owns homes in that state.

The court date has been set for October 15.

Britney Spears is scheduled to appear at Los Angeles Superior Court tomorrow for hearings regarding both her astronomical legal fees as well as her driving without a license case.

Last month it was determined that Spears owed nearly three quarters of a million dollars to her attorneys as well as those representing her ex-husband Kevin Federline. Spears’ attorney Stacy D. Phillips is seeking $407,000 for four months worth of work on Spears’ custody case, while Laura Wasser, who took over the case in June, is seeking nearly $60,000 for two months of work. Additionally, Spears previously agreed to pay $250,000 to Federline’s lawyers, bringing her total legal bill to around $716,000. Any payments must be approved by the Los Angeles court commissioner, and attorneys representing Spears’ and her father’s interests stated last month that they intend to contest Phillips’ bill. The hearing to review the legal fees has been set for 8:30 a.m. tomorrow morning.

Additionally, there will be a preliminary hearing tomorrow morning for Spears’ driving without a license case. Almost exactly a year ago, Spears was charged with driving without a license as well as a hit-and-run causing property damage, though the latter charge was dismissed several months ago. Two weeks ago, Spears’ attorney Michael Flanagan requested that the case be dismissed, but Los Angeles Superior Court Judge James A. Steele delayed a decision on whether or not Spears would stand trial.

Britney Spears’ New Album ‘Circus’ Coming Out December 2

Britney Spears will release her sixth album, “Circus,” on December 2.

The first single, “Womanizer,” is set to hit radio on September 22.

Brit’s new album, produced by the Atlanta production team The Outsyders, has the pop star teaming up with producers Max Martin, Dr. Luke, Danja, Bloodshy and Avant.

The 26-year-old mom spent much of her summer in the recording studio working on the upcoming album, which manager Larry Rudolph couldn’t be happier with.

“She’s working with a team of top-notch producers and songwriters and we’re very excited about what she’s accomplished so far,” Larry told Access Hollywood in June.

According to Brit, fans can expect her best music yet.

“I’m writing every day, right here at the piano in this living room,” Brit told OK! in August. “This is my best work ever.”

As for the sound of “Circus,” Britney said she is working with talented people who are helping her take her songs up to the next level.

“I think it is more urban. I’m working with producers who are just amazing,” she added. “There is this fresh new energy.”

The pop star wasn’t only just in the studio this summer. Britney also found time to tape a video segment for Madonna’s “Sticky & Sweet” tour singing an except from Madge’s “Human Nature.”

As if recording a new album and guest starring in Madonna’s tour weren’t enough, Brit closed out the summer, sweeping the MTV VMA Awards, winning three awards, including video of the year.

Vegas 2.0?

Britney Spears will mark her comeback by playing a special New Years eve gig in Las Vegas, according to reports.

The Toxic singer — who bagged three MTV Video Music Awards earlier this month — is planning a show at the Pearl Theater in the Palms Resort And Casino, which will see her perform with a cast of burlesque dancers just before midnight on December 31.

According to Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper, the Las Vegas show will “kick off a world tour that will be bigger and better than anything she’s done before.”

A source says, “Britney has been recording her sixth album at Palms and she is good friends with George from way back.

BRITNEY Spears has hand-picked Sydney dancer Shannon Holtzapffel to be her dance partner in an upcoming video clip.

The 23-year-old finished filming the clip for Spears' song, Mannequin, in Los Angeles this month and spilled the beans to Insider on his return home to Australia.

"It's documentary style of us all in a rehearsal studio with her (Spears),'' said Holtzapffel, who dates Channel V presenter Renee Bargh.

"I get very close to her. There's one part where we rest heads together and I'm resting on her neck before she pushes me away.

"When it's released, it'll be showing she's back in the game. She has a new album, new music and a new future.''

Holtzapffel met Spears' choreographers in LA and they invited him to a training session with the singer, who was impressed and asked him back to be her dance partner for the video shoot.

With tight security helping to keep paparazzi at bay and little information released about Spears' new album, it was a strange experience for Holtzapffel.

Dancers were played just two songs from the album, which Australian Kaz James has reportedly been working on.

"When we were finished rehearsing, they'd take the CD and put it in a safe,'' Holtzapffel said. "I've never experienced anything like it before.''

Originally from Queensland, Holtzapffel is now based in Sydney but travels the world for months at a time.

He runs a production company, Project Moda, and has worked with pop stars including Fergie, Kelly Clarkson, Delta Goodrem and Dannii Minogue.

Holtzapffel's next project is a video clip for Swedish singer Emilia de Poret.

Britney Spears, who recently won three VMA awards, gained a new album as her improving health and popularity continued to be successful.

The “Toxic” singer encountered a lot of problems: a messy divorce, custody battle and continuing concerns about her mental condition left industry bigwigs worried about the future of her career.

The record label thought getting an album together for next spring was as good as they could hope for. But RCA bosses are so impressed by her recent recovery, including a triumphant return at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, that they are now planning to put out her next album in December.

An insider revealed: “Britney’s last album, Blackout, was released in the middle of her meltdown and carried negative associations.”

The insider added: “It did OK but wasn’t as big as her previous releases. Label chiefs vowed her private life would never be allowed to overshadow her career again. However, they’ve been astonished by how well she’s managed to piece her life back together.”

The last few months have been among Britney Spears’ most productive and she has recorded a mountain of songs. The plan is for a single in November then a big relaunch in December with the album and live shows.

It was nice to see Britney Spears looking so much better at the MTV bash. As long as she keeps away from the hair clippers, her Christmas comeback could be a cracker.

More than 8.4 million viewers tuned in to Sunday’s three-hour music event, a 19% increase over last year’s viewership (and 46% higher than the 2006 tally).

Album Launching In Late December!

On Sept. 7, Britney Spears faced the world from the stage at MTV's 2008 VMA awards, clear-eyed, fit and confident, one year after her disastrous performance at the 2007 awards show.

After beating out fierce competitors in all three of the categories she was nominated in (Best Female Video, Best Pop Video and Video of the Year) Britney not only captured her Moonmen, she proved to the world that she's back.

But winning the acceptance and applause of her peers is only one of the battles Britney is waging.

Her next album, which OK! can exclusively reveal will be released by late December, has to be a monster hit to sustain her comeback, and all signs indicate that it will deliver.

"It's my best work ever," Britney proudly told OK!.

Even more important in Britney's battle is her effort to win joint custody of her sons, Preston and Jayden, from her ex-husband Kevin Federline.

"Her goal is to regain joint custody of her sons as soon as her dad Jamie's status as her conservator ends," a Spears insider tells OK!.

But before then, Britney has some other planning to do - party planning that is! As the proud mom told OK! during our exclusive interview, she is organizing a joint affair for her sons to celebrate Jayden's second birthday on Sept. 12 and Preston's third birthday on Sept. 14, with the help of her father.

"I want to have a traditional party," she told OK!. "I have some friends with kids who I am going to invite."

Her mom, Lynne Spears, has also been making headlines with her new book titled Through the Storm: A Real Story of Fame and Family in a Tabloid World. Although gossip blogs buzzed over supposed scandalous details in the memoir, the book is more about Lynne's experience as a mother through Britney's tough times, as the Associated Press reported.

"Regardless of what people might think, Britney isn't upset about the book," an insider tells OK!. "After a tough last year, Brit and Lynne have a wonderful relationship again."

Britney's New Album: Who's In and Who's Out

Britney Spears shouldn't expect to work with Jermaine Dupri on her new album.

The über-producer, who's worked with some of the biggest names in the music biz—Mariah Carey, Usher, Kanye West and girlfriend Janet Jackson, to name a few—had an unexpected response when I asked him why.

"I don't think she needs me," Dupri told me yesterday. "Her last album was a good album. She probably would have sold three million records if everybody wasn't paying attention to her babies and all that."

Ne-Yo, on the other hand, says he'd hook up with Ms. Spears, because they were supposed to work together on her last album. Plans got sidetracked, because of Brit's then-troubled private life. "It's entirely up to her now," Ne-Yo said at the House of Hype's VMA festivities this weekend. "I'm not calling them. They can call me this time…Once she gets focused, I think she'll be alright."

While Akon is working with Spears on her upcoming album, he is thinking about some other things these days, like acting. He said, "I'm definitely going to be doing some movies."

Rumors were flying all weekend that Brit would perform at the VMAs, after a super-secret rehearsal video leaked to the net -- but since the MTV awards show passed without a "Piece of Me" performance, what was Britney prepping for in her dancing video?

Late Saturday, "Extra" spotted her leaving a Hollywood studio -- and we hear she was actually prepping to kick off a new tour next year.

The pop mom, who nabbed three moon men at the VMAs, received lots of love from her fans and supporters in the Tinseltown community. "I think people understand what she's been through," said Brit's manager, Larry Rudolph. "They really love her." Brit's got some fans in "The Hills" as well! "I've always been a fan," Audrina Patridge told "Extra." Lauren Conrad added, "I'm so excited -- I love Britney Spears!"

Britney Finally Gets a 'Piece' of the VMA's

Putting years of nominations and no wins behind her, Britney Spears broke the streak by winning three VMA awards including tonight's most coveted award, Video of the Year, for "Piece of Me."

"To my fans, this is for you," she said upon accepting the award. "Thank you so much."

Earlier in the night when she picked up her first award, best female video, Britney thanked God and her two boys for inspiring her. "Piece of Me" also nabbed best pop video.

Celebs gracing the show, hosted by British comedian Russell Brand, included presenter Demi Moore, Lindsay Lohan and a very pregnant Ashlee Simpson.
All-star performances came from Christina Aguilera, the Jonas Brothers, Kanye West, Rihanna with T.I., and Pink

A year after her disastrous performance at the MTV Video Music Awards, Britney Spears opened the event's 25th annual installment on Sunday in anti-climactic fashion, leaving the singing to others.

After weeks of hype, the pop singer took the stage simply to deliver four sentences, shielding her lower face with her microphone.

"Thank you so much. Thank you for all the love. I'm here tonight to celebrate a very important birthday, the 25th anniversary of the VMAs. This is the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards and it starts right now."

And that was it. While MTV had said Spears would not be singing, it had promised a fun surprise. The audience barely had time to digest her perfunctory delivery before R&B singer Rihanna belted out the show's first musical performance.

Spears did return to the stage a few minutes later to accept the first award of the night, best female video for her tune "Piece Of Me." It also represented the first MTV "Moonman" statuette of her career.

She thanked God, her family and dedicated the award to her fans. Spears is also in contention for video of the year and best pop video, both also for "Piece of Me," which stalled at No. 18 on Billboard's Hot 100 singles chart earlier this year.

Spears inadvertently stole the show last year. Clearly unsteady and out-of-shape, she badly lip-synched to a song, drawing bewildered stares from the high-wattage audience and universal derision in the messy aftermath.

Britney is back. At the MTV awards rehearsals in LA, the pop princess looks a million times better than she did during last year's blearyeyed per formance.

He'll need her wits about her to stand up to presenter Russell Brand.

"Through The Storm's" Sad Revelations

Even more alarming reports from Lynne Spears' new book "Through The Storm: A Real Story of Fame and Family in a Tabloid World," have surfaced, including details regarding Britney's meltdown, her split from singer Justin Timberlake, and Britney's relationship with ex-manager Sam Lutfi. Earlier in the week, more reports from Lynne's memoir claimed a 14-year-old Britney lost her virginity to an 18-year-old high schooler, had tried drugs at 16, and was allegedly caught with cocaine and marijuana at 17.The breakdown:

"When I saw her in the ambulance, her beautiful brown eyes pained and haunted, something inside me broke," Lynne says in her new book according to The Sun. Lynne knew Britney's situation was "life and death." She added: "To see my child like this - at the lowest ebb of her life - almost killed me.

I was overcome with a feeling of sadness and helplessness."Lynne recalls the night Britney shaved her head as a cry for help saying: "It was so shocking, so disturbing to see that girl with such despondency in her eyes - it broke my heart in a million pieces." Soon after Britney's infamous buzz at Esther's Hair Salon, Britney checked into Promises Rehab in Malibu, California - the beginning of her estrangement with mom Lynne: "Britney would lash out at me, accusing me of siding with Kevin and letting him have the boys." Lynne added that when Britney left rehab, "her anger at me had not cooled. In fact, she refused to speak to me, and our estrangement lasted an excruciating seven months."The split from Justin Timberlake:

"I wish they would have parted differently, rather than to hurt each other and leave all those scars," says Lynne about Britney & Justin's tremendously public breakup. Lynne also told how the "reckless and irresponsible" marriage with Jason Alexander was a rebound from Justin. "Almost two years after she and Justin had broken up, Britney was still wounded. She started to act out of pain in an effort to numb her disappointment and heartache.

"These heartbreaks, Lynne feels, caused Britney to jump from relationship to relationship. Cue Kevin Federline. "I wasn't crazy about the fact that he was already a daddy and his ex-girlfriend was eight months pregnant with their second child," says Lynne about Kevin's previous relationship with Shar Jackson. "Lynne also told how her daughter suffered from post-natal depression," reports the The Sun. saying: "It added to her broken spirit over the end to her marriage to Kevin," says Lynne.And claims Britney was a bad mother after being photographed with son Sean Preston on her lap while driving "brought her to breaking point," Lynne said.

Sam Lutfi:"He said that was the reason she had been quiet for three days. She had been drugged," Lynne claims in her memoir. "He said doctors needed her to be in a sleep-induced coma to get other medication." Lynne also claims Lutfi told the singer: "Take the pills. You should do what I tell you to see your babies."

Lynne added: "She was sad, floundering, ripe for a predator to come along. Britney was open to this man who rode in on a white horse.""Within a month of meeting, Sam was in complete control of her life," says Lynne. "He appointed himself as her gatekeeper, and there was no one he wanted to keep the gate closed to more than Britney's family."Lynne recalls Sam Lutfi told Britney she "cared more about her boyfriend than her children," referring to Britney's toxic ex-fling Adnan Ghalib.
